Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the Mary Drew Early Learning Center!  My name is Kim Zylka and I have been working with the preschool population in Summit Hill 161 for the past 9 years. I have over 20 years in education, working previously in a special education cooperative as a social worker and case manager.

Play, learn and grow together are the values of MDELC. I am proud and excited to be part of this team that gets to focus every day on play! Ensuring our littlest learners in the district receive a well-rounded preschool experience is my goal. We are focusing on conceptual skills, social emotional skills as well as functional skills. Strong teacher-child interactions as well as strong school-parent connections are crucial for our students’ success.

When I am not at Mary Drew, I am busy being a mom of two. I spend my time following my kids and cheering them on from the sidelines. I enjoy any and all activities outside and spend my free time being active with hikes and walks. I love the beach in every season. In the winter I spend my time trying new recipes and reading.

For many of our students and families their experience at Mary Drew is their first formal school experience. I take that very seriously and want to provide our students with a supportive learning environment. Most of all I want them to HAVE FUN!
